Privacy policy
How we collect, use and protect your information, and the rights you have over it. Written in plain language, not legalese.
Last updated 29 June 2026.
Analytics is not currently switched on for this website. Right now we set no analytics cookies, run no heatmaps or session recording, and send no behavioural data to any third party. The sections below explain how analytics would work if and when we turn it on, and we will not enable it without showing you a consent notice first.
Who we are
This site is operated by Redgum Electrical (ABN 54 112 998 410), a licensed electrical contractor serving Ballarat and the Central Highlands in Victoria. If you have any question about this policy or your information, contact us at hello@redgumelectrical.com.au or on 0432 118 740.
What we collect
Information you give us
When you fill in our quote form or email or call us, we collect the details you choose to share. The quote form asks for your name, phone number, email, suburb, the type of work you need, and an optional description of the job. We only ask for what we need to understand your enquiry and get back to you.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as the requested page and an approximate region) to keep the site secure and running. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first measurement tool that counts page views and traffic sources without cookies and without identifying you. This baseline measurement does not require your consent because it stores nothing on your device.
Analytics and how it would work when enabled
If we enable our optional analytics layer, this site would also use Microsoft Clarity to help us understand how visitors use the site through aggregated heatmaps and session-replay insights (for example, where people click and how far they scroll). Clarity sets cookies and masks form fields and text by default, so the content you type is never captured. Because Clarity uses cookies, we would:
- show you a consent notice before any recording begins,
- only start collecting after you accept, and let you decline with equal ease,
- honour browser opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track, and
- update this policy so it accurately describes what is being collected at that time.
We would never put recording live without this notice in place. When analytics is off, none of the above applies.
How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and carry out the work you ask us to do.
- To keep records of the jobs we have quoted or completed.
- To keep the website secure, reliable and useful.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use your enquiry details to send you marketing unless you have asked us to.
Who we share it with
We share your information only with the service providers that help us run the business, and only as far as they need it. These include our website host and email provider, and, if analytics is enabled, the analytics providers named above. Some of these providers (including Cloudflare and Microsoft) are based overseas or store data overseas, which means your information may be handled outside Australia under their own privacy and security obligations.
Our website is built and maintained by Devalo. Where analytics is enabled, Devalo may review aggregated and anonymised usage patterns across the sites it builds to improve its work. This is never used to identify you, and one client's data is never used for another.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and job records for as long as we need them to serve you and to meet our legal, tax and insurance obligations, then we securely remove them. Where analytics is enabled, behavioural data is retained only for the period set in the analytics tool and is not kept longer than needed for the purpose described above.
Keeping your information safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure hosting, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and limiting who can access enquiry details. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce the risk of loss, misuse or unauthorised access.
Your rights
You can ask us to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or remove it where we are able. To make a request, email hello@redgumelectrical.com.au. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can raise it with us first, and you may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we enable analytics or change a service provider. The date at the top shows when it was last updated, and the current version always describes what we actually do today.
